Managed Print Services

Fuji Xerox Australia provides Managed Print Services at Curtin University's metropolitan campuses at Bentley, Fremantle, Murray Street, Shenton Park, as well as co-located facilities at Mount Hospital, Royal Perth Hospital and the Oral Health Centre of WA.

This page contains key information about Managed Print Services, including:

Curtin has partnered with an external company to provide a Managed Print Service where actual usage is charged to areas on a monthly basis. The contract defines a University-wide cost per page for monochrome prints and another cost per page for colour prints.

The per-page charge covers equipment acquisition and replacement, maintenance costs, and all consumables (except for paper and staples). Consumables (except for paper) are fitted by the partner’s technicians in response to automated alerts generated by each piece of equipment.

Curtin is reducing its carbon footprint and creating savings by using a more efficient fleet of standard printer/copiers.

This new service has improved sustainability by decommissioning unnecessary printers, right-sizing devices to suit current and future usage and replacing old printers with more energy efficient multifunction devices.

Service & Support: What is DocuCare?

DocuCare is a service provided by Fuji Xerox Global Services. Four on-site DocuCare specialists are located at Bentley campus in two convenient locations to respond to automated alerts generated by printer/copiers running low on consumables and proactively visiting all high-volume printer/copiers. A further DocuCare specialist will support non-Bentley locations.

The on-site DocuCare Specialist monitors all multi-function devices, printers and copiers proactively throughout the day 8.30am to 5.00pm Monday to Friday and provides the following services:.

  • Equipment is regularly cleaned and maintained for optimal performance.
  • Toners and drums are replaced.
  • Training in the use of your devices.

To get in touch with a DocuCare support specialist call x9000 and follow the prompts.

‘Follow-me’ Printing Capability

This enables you to release your print jobs at any convenient print device on campus by swiping your Staff-ID card on a reader device at any designated printer.

This process offers security of your print documents, as they can only be printed when swiped for immediate collection by their owner. This also results in less wastage of paper and consumables, which previously occurred as a consequence of non-collection of prints.

Registration of Staff ID-Cards

Prior to using the system, Staff-ID cards will need to be registered with the MPS system to enable them to be recognised by the device's swipe readers.

Support staff will be equipped with mobile activation devices on the day of your installation to register your Staff-ID cards. However if you miss them, you can find Card Activating devices at the following locations:

  • Abacus Labs: Buildings 303, 408 & 501
  • Library
  • CITS Service Desk (200B - next door to the Bookshop)
  • Building 402, level2
  • Building 204, level 2
  • Building 604, unit 6 at Technology Park (8 Sarich Way – next door to ODU)
  • Shenton Park

These machines have instructions to follow and are provisioned by support staff.

Reporting Faults

Should you encounter any problems or faults with MPS devices, these should be reported through the CITS Service Desk on x9000. Follow the prompts for managed and unmanaged devices and quote the serial number, which will be referenced on a green sticker attached to each device.

Devices with green stickers will be maintained by Fuji Xerox under the MPS arrangement, all other devices are unmanaged, however technical support can still be acquired via the CITS Service Desk.
