Remote access (VPN)
As a Curtin staff member you may need to access some Curtin systems from outside the Curtin network (eg off campus). Some systems (eg OASIS) work outside the Curtin network seamlessly. However, some systems (eg SCRIPT), need you to be within the Curtin network. VPN (Virtual Private Network) allows you to be within Curtin's network.
To use a VPN you do not need to install another phone line, another ADSL connection or anything like that. Rather, you need the following:
- A PC or Macintosh computer off-campus
- An internet connection to your off-campus computer and
- A copy of the Curtin VPN software to install on your off-campus computer
